Evergreen fern zone 6a

casolorz(6a)May 14, 2013

What are some good evergreen ferns for zone 6a? I would need some for full shade and some for partial shade, and if available some for full sun. It would be awesome if they had interesting tones of color and/or got fairly large.

Your local garden center should have whatever is appropriate for your area in stock now. I know Autumn fern is a popular non-native fern in Georgia, but I don't know if it is hardy where you are (zone 6a is pretty broad, better to give general location). In my area, a native evergreen fern is Christmas fern.

I live in MD and definitely yes to Autumn fern. They turn a beautiful bronze in Fall and never die back completely in the winter.
