Need ID on Shelf Mushroom

tngreenthumb(z6 TN)May 12, 2009

Sorry, I'm not well versed in fugi. My wife saw a show on TV about these (or something similar) that were not only edible but very rare and valuable. Is this the one? Or is it deadly? (Click for larger versions)

Looks like an oyster mushroom, which is edible but not particularly rare. However, I will not recommend that you eat it. For one it looks a little old, but most importantly I am not an expert on fungi.

Looks like the one that were cooking but I certainly not recommend for you to eat that mushroom. You have to consult an expert in this field to be safe.
