Sheet moss question

Fleur(z5)July 18, 2010

My friend made a living wreath using sheet moss. Before adding succulents, the wreath looked wonderful...nice green. My question is, will the moss lose it's color if it is allowed to dry to accommodate the moisture requirements of the succulent hens and chicks and sedums she's planted in the wreath?

Also, is sheet moss the moss that grows on wet concrete or rock walls? I'm not into moss at the moment and just wondered.

It will likely turn brown as it dies. My guess is that "sheet moss" is any moss that is gathered from outdoors and could represent any number of species from any number of habitats.

Thanks. I understand it was collected in a damp, shady area on her property. Do you suppose if it gets almost dry and then sprayed with a hand sprayer, it will retain some of it's color?

Perhaps if it is grown in a shady spot and sprayed with water of the correct pH.
