Cinammon Ferns

My husband's aunt gave me some relatively tall ferns. Now that I've transplanted them, can I cut them back like I do to other perennials? The tops are looking pretty bad.

Do not cut them back. Live with the ragged fronds this year. Next year they should look good the whole spring and summer. After all, phsotosynthesis is where they get their energy.
