Pruning Dog-Stomped Ferns?

jclay321(Z6 NY)July 17, 2006

I have some ferns. Not sure what kind. Similar to hay scented ferns, but not sure. They were doing wonderfully well until my dog stomped them chasing squirels. The fronds are half broken. If I prune will new ones emerge this late in season? Will extra fertilizer and water help?

You can prune or not prune. If the ferns are going to put out new fronds they'll do it with or without pruning. If you're planning to leave them in the ground to overwinter, they should be alright. Cheryl
