Celosia-Triangle Mix from Stokes

pitt(IN-Zone5)January 6, 2010

Has anyone grown the Triangle Mix Celosia listed in the Stokes catalog? Just wanted to know if anyone had some feedback on this--comparing to Bombay. All celosias were a hit with the florists in 2009, and we wanted to add another one. Hope this continues into 2010! Thanks. pitt from IN

We grew Stokes's triangle mix last year and will grow it again this year.

It fits our needs. My wife usually picks celosias when they're fairly small -- about 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide -- and mainly uses them as part of mixed dried bouquets or elements in wreaths, rather than main event flowers. I don't know how well they'd do if you grew them for maximum size. The color range was nice -- red, yellow, soft orange -- not the same sorts of fancy persimmons and salmons as some of the Bombay varieties, but close enough.

If you're looking for something dramatic, or want to get to market first with fresh flowers, Bombay will probably perform better for you, but even so, I'd give triangle mix a try.

Thanks, for the response, Chicago. I think we we'll give Triangle Mix a try! pitt-5
