Problems with Irish Moss

afisherjrSeptember 3, 2007

We have trouble with Irish Moss (Sagina subulata) turning brown and dying during summer, particularly around the perimeter of the bed. We water daily, spread out at four half-hour intervals at night, with accumulation on the order of two inches.

Would apprciate any suggestions.

Irish moss is not a moss, it is a flowering perennial so you might also want to ask your question on the perennial forum.

However, it dislikes wet soil as much as it dislikes dry soil so you may be overwatering.

Here is a link that might be useful: Irish Moss Care
