Very nearly, the plant in the last pic started singing my name like a Siren in the sea. I barely escaped with my wallet intact. ;-)

I swear, I can still hear it singing though....

GS,
Which nursery is this? Have you been to Old West Cactus Farm?

Wow! Great stuff!

Could you please identify the trunked (looks very agave-ish...) plant in the fourth pic from the top?

Thanks!

Thanks for the ID. I love how agave looks when they develop a trunk like that.

The only reason it has a trunk it that the nursery owner keeps hacking off the lower leaves. I have a pup from that very plant.

GS

I see what you mean. Are they doing it to create the trunking look, or is it done in the course of removing faded leaves?

Is Attenuata the only true trunking Agave, then?

They do it to all the boxed Agaves in the name of space-management, I suppose. He also wants to be able to see when pups show.

There are several Agaves that form trunks, including some that are absolutely Yucca-like. These include A. decipiens and A. karwinskii.

A visit to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in N. Carolina. I saw this hugh Agave and could not come up with an ID. I think it might be the same.

Stush I think that might be Furcraea foetida mediopicta.

Great pix, German, thanks. The weberi striata is a beauty.

Re: Furcraea, that's how it looks to me too, but I don't see how any Furcraea can manage NC.

They have a huge greenhouse. They probably bring it in come Dec., Jan, and Feb. What got me is the softer nature of the leaves and so colorful.
Thanks for the ID. also I had some regular Agave Angustifolia Variegata that grew into a large size and I also removed all the botton leaves that were brown/dead.
