Rosemary essential oil: pricing all over the map!

serge94501September 17, 2013

After reading in the other thread of the effectiveness of rosemary essential oil in treating for spider mites, I bopped down to the local health food store. $7 for 5ml. OUCH!

I looked at amazon and ebay and settled on $24 for 16oz (after adding in shipping).

The price I ended up paying is 24x cheaper. Assuming we're talking equivalent products, this is one of the biggest spreads I have ever seen.

For reference, the NOW product from Amazon comes in at 2.5x more expensive than the eBay stuff (factoring in Prime shipping as free).

I wonder if I just got a bargain or if I bought some cruddy/fake product?

I ordered some essential oils from an online website one time that were about half price of other sites. I was hot when the oils arrived and labeling clearly stated it was not for internal use. The website was not so clear. I was assured I could use it for internal use when I called the company, just that they weren't licensed as such. Geeze! Anyway, you should be able to use such a product for horticulture.
