Road Salt in Dahlia Bed

nhdahlialoverApril 15, 2008

Hello all!

As the snow is finally receding here I can see that my front dahlia garden has tons of road salt and dirt on it. We got more snow this winter than we have in the last 100+ years. should I worry about all of that road gunk in my dahlia bed? Should I till it in? Amend the soil with something? Try and shovel some of it out? I don't want to plant all of my tubers only to have them die.

Thanks,

Katy

I put gypsum on the area that had the road salt. It is supposed to neutralize it.
