difference between seeds and tubers?

linda0210July 11, 2007

I am such a newbie and I love the darn dahlias but have always bought tubers. just recently learned that you can take cutting from the sprouts on the tubers (!)

Anyway, I've never done seeds. (here's the dumb part!) Are they seeds from when the plants flowers and then set seeds? Same thing as the tubers, except that the tuber is mature.

If you grow them from seed, do they make tubers at the end of the season that you can pull up?

Poochella posted this link some time ago. Hope it helps. BTW Plantlady, if you are there, I found 9 pages of Dahlia seedlings on your site but wasn't able to find your pictures showing the collection process...Are they still there?
