what do I do with my plant when its done blooming?

what do i do with my dahlia plant once it's done blooming? Do I dig up the tuber and store it when fall/winter comes, or do I just keep it in the ground the whole time?

I have about 6 dahlia plants growing, I don't know what kind. They are about 5.5 feet tall and have dark magenta blooms. I've never grown them before so I'm not sure what to do with them.

I would search this forum at the bottom of this page for 'dahlia storage'. There are a lot of great threads on here.

If you still have questions come back and post again.

I would keep it in the ground until it frosts, cut off the foliage, then a week later dig it up, wash it, dry it, and store it in peat moss in a cool place. Some people do fungicide. I didn't last year do fungicide last year, but may this year.
Good luck!
