Satsuma fruit

flittersNovember 17, 2012

I have just picked four bags of satsumas from my 3 year old tree with at least another 3 bags left on there. My question is, apart from sharing them with my neighbours, how can I store them to keep them fresh, so I can enjoy eating them over the next few weeks?

Satsumas do well refrigerated. If you don't have enough refrigerator room, you could store them outside or in an unheated garage, as long as you aren't expecting freezing temps. Of course, protect from varmints.

Like Patty mentioned, I hang the bags outside in my garage. They store quite well.
This weekend was our annual Mountain Mandarin Festival in the foothills of northern California.
It was a shame that it was raining so hard....but the fruit I bought was exceptionally sweet.
A good year for the Owari Satsuma up here.
