Limes that look like little oranges

discodanman45December 10, 2011

I have a lime tree that has one main branch grwoing these weird things. The rest of the tree is a normal lime tree. About 10 feet on each side of the lime tree I have a Washington Naval tree and a Ruby Grapefruit Tree. These "Loranges" are smaller then my limes.

What variety of lime is your tree; if it is a Jamaican lime or Key lime, they get that color, if you leave them on the tree long enough. What I see on the fruit looks like a scale or mold problem, which may be causing these fruits to prematurely turn yellow. I will include a link to scale diseases to see what I am saying.

Here is a link that might be useful: Scale on citrus

The rest of the tree is a normal lime, there is one branch that is producing these small orange like limes. They are kinda fuzzy and turn orange when ripe.

It looks like a Lakeland lime. It is a common "lime" here in Florida. Is it possible somebody T budded a lakeland on to your tree sometime before you bought it?
