Heat Mat for Seedlings?

alameda/zone 8February 7, 2014

Does it help to put a heat mat under just planted seeds? If so, what temperature and how long do you leave them on it? Thanks!

Depends on your growing conditions, mine are in the basement on a stand made, the heat mats I use are around 70 degrees or so, it makes all the difference in the world for mine .

I used a grow mat for the first time this year, and what a difference! My seeds germinated in about 1-2 weeks instead of 3-4. The babies are looking very robust. I plan on buying a few more.
