pyracantha for deer resistance

rj_hythloday(8A VA)November 2, 2008

Pyracantha is very prevalent where I grew up in UT. I always thought because it was a great privacy shrub, people had it under windows, no one is going to go through it to peep in, and kids aren't going to sneak out the window going through it.

I'm wondering if any one has any experience using it outside a garden to keep deer or other garden pests out?

Planted a dozen Mojave Pyracantha around my yard last summer and fall. Doesn't keep the deer away but they leave the pyracantha alone..so far.
