Planting in September???

cindy24(8)August 30, 2013

I live in San Antonio, TX.
My Spring and Summer plants have fizzled out and dried up.
I'm wondering are there any hardy plants, available now, that I can plant within the next week?
It's for my front yard that is in full sun. All that has survived are my fox tails... Kinda with purple leaves. The soil is very clay like and dry. So I need help in finding plants that will do well.

Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks!!

An excellent resource for local gardening info is your county's Extension Service office.

In Bexar County, go to

Cindy24,

Good advice from jean001a. If might also want to check into the local Master Gardeners next Fall Plant Sale. They can help direct you, too.

Best part is that here in Texas, our rainy season has typically been the Fall/Winter. So, whatever you plant will be supported by the rains to help me toward getting their roots established. Neither of us have our seed wants posted.

Go into the seed exchange and look for Roselee to see pics of her yard. I'm sure she'd love to have to over and give you some seeds, too. I've got a few that could get you started, but you'll need to email me back.
