Cleaning up my new Oregon Green pine?

kayseeMay 29, 2012

I just purchased a new Oregon Green pine for my husband. I was wondering if I could clean it up some. I wanted to take off yhe green needles on the trunk. Will this hurt the tree? Thank you everyone

hi

one might suggest that the needles are the food making machine .. to produce energy.. to offset the stress of transplant.. and grow a vigorous root system ...

so no.. i would not remove them ...

besides all that.. all conifers.. all evergreens... eventually lose their interior needles.. and that includes those on the trunk ... they will fall off themselves.. in a year or two ...

leave it be...

at the link.. is a good primer on how to PROPERLY PLANT.. and care for your new tree/conifer ...

ken

ps: i suppose you clean your house too .. lol ...

Here is a link that might be useful: link
