HAVE: How to distinguish between different mimosa seedlings?

Canna_Getanamen(7)September 22, 2013

Can anyone tell me how to distinguish between seedlings of mimosa trees (hardy silk) and sunshine mimosa? Both plants grow wild and prolifically in my woodsy neighborhood, but I can't tell one from the other at the seedling stage. I am constantly pulling seedlings from my yard -- hundreds of them -- but i can't tell what's what. Someone here was looking for sunshine mimosa; maybe others would like the hardy silk. If I could be sure that what I'm pulling is what people are wanting, I would have a lot to offer. (:-)

Sorry, but I don't know the answer to this one. You might try posting in the Trees Forum and see if anyone there has any ideas. One thing for sure, giving a Albizia julibrissin to someone that was hoping for a Mimosa strigillosa would be awful!
