WANTED: wanted-plants or seeds for dry area

jessaroo(OR)July 8, 2005

I am looking for plants/seeds for an area of my garden that does not get rain. I am still really new with gardening and do not know what sorts of plants to look for.

I am also looking for more information about seed saving.

thanks,

jess

Stonecrop (sedum) is good for sunny dry areas. 'Autumn Joy' is particularly popular right now. Other good choices for dry areas are some of the ornamental grasses. Blue fescue is nice, as is mexican hair grass. Again, these like sun. Of course lavendar is the old stand by for a sunny dry area with poor soil. I'd be interested in what other people recommend, because I'm currently planting a garden that is dry, sunny for most of the day, and very hot because it's backed by a brick wall. Good luck Jessaroo
