we are close to the limit on other one. so this is new one
Those spider lilies you are mentioning are Peruvian
daffodils. we gave them to you last year.
Festalis is white ans Sulphur Queen is yellow
Is your perilla the purple(red) leafed kind? If so I would love a bit please. Mine always reseeded but not this year.
Yes you did give me them last year and when I repotted this spring there was a baby bulb which is what I am offering . Unfortunately I lost track of which one this baby came from . I still have both of the originals . When I researched them they called them spider lilies not daffodils ( . That is all I know about them really ). I have the 2 original bulbs potted up and out in the garden and I cant wait to see them bloom this year.
Here is what it says in info from Veseys "Peruvian Daffodil - Veseys
Fragrant and whimsical Peruvian Daffodils are not a Daffodil at all, but a cousin to Amaryllis. The white trumpet-shaped flowers have several outer petals that extend crazily outward. Bulb size 14-16 cm in circ.
Hardy in Zones 8-10; elsewhere dig and store in a frost-free area....
and from Wikipedia "Spider lily is the common name for a number of different plant species within the family Amaryllidaceae which belong to the following genera:
Hymenocallis, a genus of plants in the family Amaryllidaceae"
So I guess we are both right LOL! Gotta love gardening !
Greylady, I will pot up a bunch for you .Yes they are the burgundy color .... they are only tiny right now ( self seeded ) .
This post was edited by signet on Fri, Jun 6, 14 at 18:03
will pot you up some double feverfew
thanks so much. I loved my purple perilla and couldn't believe that none showed up this year!
Thank you Signet!!!
More plants added to my trade list. Let me clarify my offer here .....if you have something garden related to trade I am willing to trade for things other than plants ... so if there is something on my whole trade list you want let me know
2 year old Boxwood cuttings
Birdhouse gourds (2)
Intermediate Iris- white standards purple falls
Clay Pots - various sizes
What else you got to trade ? Books? tools? compost? anything garden related ......make me an offer .
This post was edited by signet on Sat, Jun 7, 14 at 14:18
we are in desperate need of 4" pots. we have almost run out of them, with potting up things and giving them away , we are done to about 12 now from almost 60
if anyone has some would greatly appreciate them, thanks
Do you need them before the swap ? Maybe I can drive down with them . Gives me an excuse to go to Goodwill down your way :LOL
. Would you guys have any of the trays the beige Gigantico pots fit into ? I am looking for those.
Signet - Your list matches mine all except a Virginia Bluebells but I owe you a trade for that - is a bunch of large 1 or 5 gallon or tree pots good for that and perhaps a second mini daff trade if you have enough? Looking forward to doing our trades in your garden later in the summer!!
NavyGirl01 - I'll have 4" pots for you, do you prefer square or round? I rescue pots from nursery recycling bins for my plant sale and for Signet. No trade needed, I think all those fancy echinaceas from last year leave me owing you a few trades!! This will make Matt very happy to see the wall-o-pots cut down to size...
Blueiris - sure that works for me . However I need to do 2 more trades with you please .....I would like your perennial baby's Breath and a Aconitum blue/white bicolour . what can I trade you for those.?
Hi Signet - I already have you down for 2 bicolour monskhood, did you want a 3rd? I have you down for the perennial baby's breath too. Any more fancy or mini daffs left?
I'll watch for the gigantico sized trays at local stores, they take them back, but just throw them out... I've already rescued some empty pots from the return pile. I am big on re-use!
square ones please
oops no I am good didn't realize you had me down for some already . I am good then LOL!
I owe you 3 trades still. Did you change your mind about daylilies? Or would you like something else?
I would love whatever daylilies you would like to send my way!
If anyone is interested, I dug up a whole bunch of Hosta called So Sweet in my neighbors yard. Yes they do know I did that...LOL
So sorry Greylady I just got one from you. Didn't know that's what actually was in my garden and a whole gold mine next door...LOL I am learning the actual names of plants now...wow
I would love one of the so sweet hosta please. Let me know what you might like in trade .
Ha ha ha ......we've hooked you now ....soon you will be spouting latin names of plants too! Bwaahaaahhhhaaaa!
all part of our evil gardening plan LOL!
This post was edited by signet on Sat, Jun 7, 14 at 22:28
You are too funny. Never mind spouting latin names...I'm Good if I remember any names. Will pot you up some So Sweet Hosta. There was some ground cover that has small light green leaves running along little stems all in bunches. Tons of that too. This year I have seen so many free plants . People throwing out hens and chicks, now Hosta. There was a bush of some sort and weird long stems with shiny leaves that turn into vines. Trying to find out what they are called.
I would be interested in one of your
Lysimachia Punctata...heheh...yellow loosestrife
Told ya! Ha ha geez I must be psychic
Adding a yellow loosestrife to your list. Thanks for another great swap
I have some larkspur seedlings that came up. A mix of pink and blue.
If anyone so interested.
I could take a Larkspur off your hands if you like. To trade I have peonies, Shasta daisy, so sweet Hosta, hens and chicks, ostrich fern, large Hosta, Bright pink Phlox .
To add to my list, I have a couple of pots of WS four o'clocks with two seedlings in each pot....one pot of pale pink and one pot of broken colours.
meant to say...no trade necessary :)
This post was edited by greylady-gardener on Sun, Jun 8, 14 at 19:59
I think I owe you a trade, if you can find something on my list to trade for the pink dahlia if it's still available.
May I try the pot of broken colors please?
So far , the only per. Geraniums that have bloomed have been the bright pink .....I am not seeing any white or blue so those of you who asked for white ones may want to ask for something else. The white with purple flecks are looking like they might open shortly . However we are still 2 weeks away from the swap so maybe some of the others will be white or blue but they haven't bloomed yet ......so maybe they will before the swap . I don't remember a year when they didn't all bloom at the same time ??????
I will set the broken colours aside for you......excited to see how these flower. Got the seeds from a trade so have never had them in the garden yet.just WS them this year for the first time.
It is a strange year for flowering.......have a lovely little mound of wood's pink asters, flowering their heart out right now......guess they think it is fall! lol!!
Larkspur for a large hosta would be great. Trying to expand my hosta collection. Thanks.
Blueiris- sorry about this but the balloon flowers I have for you are not that. They are blue bell flowers. Do you still want them???
Ok, I'll pick some daylilies for you. Thank you again for trading.
No problem, my balloon flowers were slow to show but somehow I now have 5 in one place, and the incredible 2.5' one in another.
Do you still have sweet autumn clematis available? I have a fence that I want to make more private... If you can find other trades I'll take as many of the four as you have left :-) Between them and the Clematis Prairie Traveler's Joy from GreyLady I should have the fence hidden in no time flat!!!
Dianthus, Pinks (2)
Coriander seedlings, 4 in a pot (1)
Pom pom style dahlias, red
This post was edited by flowergirl_on on Mon, Jun 9, 14 at 15:55
np, sorry about the mix up
will have the sweet autumn put aside for you
Merja, I feel dumb saying this, but I mistook another peony for the one that you gave me last year. IF you ever do find another piece of your dark red peony, then I would love to have a piece. :)
I found the one from you....tiny, and dead! :(
This post was edited by greylady-gardener on Mon, Jun 9, 14 at 16:54
I have another clumb of it that I could dig up. It's not flowering size yet but much bigger than last years...and I don't think there is ants bothering this one. I find that the peonies with thick mature stalks do better when transplanting but hopefully this one works.
thank you so much, Merja!
Is anyone interested in a hosta . This is dark green medium green and edged in white ...I have 2 good sized specimens available
If the tarragon is French Tarragon then I would definitely be interested please. ( tastes a little like licorice?)
I just had a taste test and maybe this tarragon tastes like licorice a little but can't be sure. I got this from BLUIRIS two years ago and she gave it to me just as tarragon. If you see this BLUEIRIS, do you know if this tarragon is french tarragon? I'll bring it anyways and you can decide, Signet.
The tarragon that I traded in years past made good omelettes but wikipedia makes me think it was the hardier Russian variety as it grew up to almost a meter high, spreading by runners, and was deemed weak flavored by a French friend. It actually died out on me, I bought a tiny pot of new French tarragon and it is entirely different, have to put it in better soil, it hasn't grown at all in the month it's been planted out.
Sorry for the mix up.
Tarragon, I am in the same place as you Heather.mi have Russian tarragon which is still alive . But I also bought French tarragon yesterday. Now to find a good place to plant it. I am thinking a pot this year.
soooo.....I have been looking for a couple of days for the notebook that has ALL of my trades written down.....no luck so far and I am down to the wire as far as wanting everything totally done and in pots ready to go......promised myself that it would be like that this year......way behind as it is and now this! :)
Could everyone please let me know what you have down for your trades with me? If you don't want to post them here, then you can e-mail me using my e-mail on 'my page'
thanks so much :)......and sorry for the bother (why did I think that a notebook would be SO much more organized than the scribbled notes on paper of other years!!? lol!)
No problem about the tarragon, if anything this made me learn that french tarragon is the good kind. I also learned on the net that there is mexican tarragon also but it is annual in our zone.
I have written down Clematis integrifolia and Hosta 'Fire and Ice' for anemone 'Pamina' and columbine 'Red Star' seedlings + the dark red peony from last year.
Thanks, Merja.....the "new" list has begun! :)

thank you Merja, Signet, blueiris and navygirl. I really appreciate your doing that for me.
even went through the blue box papers this morning in case it got mixed in a bunch of papers, but no luck.
I would like 2 of your Shasta "crazy daisy" please . Let me know what you want in trade.
Don't know if you have more than 1 purple /yellow primrose . if you do , I have my hand up please. LOL
Lois: I got smart this year and photocopied my list about half way through just in case something like that happened...but it didn't.Sorry you weren't so fortunate. Here is what I have for our trades.
From Ross to Lois:
Rudbeckia Maya Seedlings
From Lois to Ross:
Hope that helps. Ross
I have a very pretty cabbage rose shaped orange begonia to offer. Any takers?
I would love to give your cabbage rose shaped orange begonia a home. Most years I buy two baskets of apricot ones for our front steps, but am saving for a trip...
How about some of your Nicotiana mutibilis in trade ? or if they are gone how about your burning bush ? let me know please if either of these work for you .
I'll set aside some Nicotiana mutabilis for you, there is already a burning bush in your trade pile :-), unless you would like a second one?
Please don't lose your list!!!!!!!!!!!! .....cuz I have no clue (obviously) what the heck I have traded for with you lol! The mutibilis wil be lovely thanks so much !!!~
thank you Ross. I wish I had copied the list. Along with the swaps, I had so many little notes about the garden and what was going to be moved and where the new plants were going to be planted etc.
did you ever find out the name of these items ? do you have a picture? "There was some ground cover that has small light green leaves running along little stems all in bunches.
There was a bush of some sort and weird long stems with shiny leaves that turn into vines. Trying to find out what they are called.
I am nosy/curious
I Euphorbia milii aka somona plant aka Crown of thorns.....to offer for trade . Red blooms . Don't know if this interests anyone .
Let me know
Will pot up a large Hosta for the Larkspur
You wanted to even the trade...if you have a Nora Barlow red and white Columbine or Pandoras Box...is that a Hosta. Either one is fine Whatever you have the most of. Thanks
The ground cover with the light green leaves on vines I believe is called Golden creeping Jenny. That is what it looks like anyways. Not sure what the other is yet.
If you have another pandora's box hosta left, I would love to trade for it, if there is something that I could give you for it. :)
Dinnerpl8 - I'll set aside a couple of WS Nora Barlow columbine for you
I have no named variety hostas, my Pandora's Box is a daylily...
Happy rainy day!
Thanks for filling me in. If it is golden creeping Jenny or regular Creeping Jenny just a word of warning if I might . Leave it where you found it !!!!!!!!!! unless you are going to use it in a planter or hanging pot.
I got some of each from somewhere ......what a mistake. Although a pretty plant with it's bright yellow blooms it is a nuisance .....it has spread into the lawn and of course roots at every joint so trying to rip it out has been unsuccessful ......I hate the stuff ... I don't much like using chemicals but it may come to that at some point . Each time my hubby cuts the lawn even with the mulcher it spreads the damn stuff .....hate it , hate it , hate it .....have wasted hours trying to eradicate it .
anyone interested in one 'sweet cicely' plant? This is one thick stalk that is tall....at least 2+ feet. It has already flowered and it is setting seed.
hmm...just looking to see how to transplant sweet cicely........seems it has a long tap root and it can be chopped into pieces and planted......
if anyone wants this I will try it :) or I can try to dig up the whole thing......if you want to take a chance.....no trade necessary
This post was edited by greylady-gardener on Wed, Jun 11, 14 at 16:56
I had a vermin attack my greenhouse last night . Tried to build a nest in it. Tons of damage. Still taking stock. Very depressed.
I do think every thing is ok for trades, will let you know.
Thank you for the info. Won't offer golden creeping Jenny unless someone wants an invasive ground cover
I am gonna try to send you a pic via email. can you if possible tell me if you think what I have here is Sweet Cicely please.
I am sure I was told when I got it what it was .......just have forgotten at this point and trying to id.
Also anyone want Pink Obedience plant ? No trade necessary
Garden report: the butterflies are loving the Dame's Rocket . They are all over them . Iris are gorgeous . Allium's . bluebells are done . Starting to get a few blooms on daylilies such as Stella , Flava and Bitsy . Ditch lilies are putting up scapes and weeds are a foot or taller high. ...Just spent from 6:00 a.m. till now weeding one garden ....looks like a garden again !
Couple of new offerings, they have just started waking up in their pots so they don't look like much at the moment, but will look fine when they'll get to the ground:
Oxalis triangularis (1)
Oxalis 'Iron Cross', only showing 3 shoots at the moment, but like I said it is just starting to emerge (1)
Nice garden report, Signet. I want to do one too...not like anybody cares here. :) My second peony from a seed opened yesterday. It is a single form of the mother: fuchsia coloured with bright yellow stamens. What a splash of colour. Also new for me this year are dutch iris that opened this morning...love them. Dianthus, digitalis and all the peonies are just courteous but nicest spot right now is my purple siberian iris 'Ruffled Velvet' with white digitalis excelcior hybrid next to it. They go nicely together.
Sorry to report that Agastache Heather Queen died, is there anything else on my list you would like instead?
Thanks for looking,
I had a flying visit from Bev on the weekend and she is sending a handful of cool seedlings to the gambler's circle.
I know I owe Signet some white woodland phlox. I thought I owed someone some blue (purple really) woodland phlox... Or perhaps I just had it set aside to go in the gambler's circle?
Please let me know if I have promised it to you!
Thanks for checking,
How about some Bishop's Children Dahlia seedlings in place of Agastache Heather Queen?
FlowerGirl - sounds good, I've set aside some dahlia seedlings for you!
Thank you, Heather. :)
signet, I hope you got my e-mail about the sweet ciciely.
blueiris, nice you had a visit from Bev! too bad she couldn't have made it for swap day...even just for the visit. :)
flowergirl, did you grow a peony from seed?? how long did it take to flower?
Actually I love to hear garden reports from other people . I learn a lot from them . I like to compare notes about others gardens with mine. What does well, what doesn't and why. Often other gardeners have already experienced situations and remedies that I haven't and in my experience gardeners are always willing to share .....whether it is information or plants . So thank you for sharing ! I enjoyed reading about your gardens
Thanks for taking the time to write to me Greylady .....I am still not sure exactly what plant I have here . I will taste mine like you suggested and hope I don't keel over dead LOL! Trouble is, it is so darn hard to id a plant without some idea of what it is you have ....too bad cuz I have a couple of small plants I could have offered but without a name it doesn't allow anyone to know if they really want it or not.
If the sweet Cicely is still available, I would like to give it a new home . Looks like a really nice plant
well, if you did try to taste a leaf of your mystery plant, I hope you are okay! lol! I will dig a sweet cicely for you. When I got the seeds, I was told that it should be situated in a fairly shadey spot, so I have it planted in a spot that gets a very brief period of full early morning sun, then dappled shade for a few hours and then finally full bright shade for the rest of the day. It also likes to not really dry out for too long. It is in its' second year for me and shot up and flowered and was really pretty this year.
my garden note........the pale mauve "grape koolaid" iris that I got from you a couple of years ago were amazing this year.......the clump filled out and had lots of flowers that seemed to last a nice long time. They are just waning now but still have a few new flowers coming on.
My dwarf Korean lilac burst into flower a couple of weeks ago, and filled the whole yard with fragrance, but sadly the flowers really faded fast this year so it is looking sad but the fragrance is still lingering. :) While it was at its' peak, it was covered in swallowtails and hummingbird moths.several at a time fighting for the nectar.
Have to go out today and prop up the peonies that got smashed by the teeming rain that pelted down early this morning. Looks like not too many flowers got totally smushed so hopefully they will recover and we can enjoy the rest of the buds that are going to open. I do have a huge vase of them that I did pick in order to lessen the impact of the rain a couple of days ago.
I wish I knew how long it took until the peonies flowered. I never wrote it down anywhere when I started them. I just know it took a long time. :) Originally I remember starting 3 seeds. The first one opened last year. One never made it. But it sure is fun to finally see what you get in the end.
We never got rain this morning but couple of days ago we got some, not enough though. I need to get more peony rings this year. I have only two and they really help. It was nice to read about your garden also. :)
sorry all, went on a mini vacation to Canada`s Wonderland and Port Colborne with my brother and his family. Just got back and am reading posts.
flowergirl- have you down for coreopsis and p/y primrose
signet- have yours too but will get them to you when we meet.
we are out weeding again and will see what else we can find, LOL
ok so the leaves look similar on my plant but maybe on a larger scale .....and they are not sweet .....as a matter of fact they are quite bitter. Once the flower head opens I will try to post a pic here in hopes that someone recognizes the plant .
Merja, in reading about growing peonies from seed, some sites say they could flower in year three, but another site said that it could take up to ten years! wow........hmmm am I THAT patient? lol! sounds like fun though so you never know...I just might have to try it.
Signet, maybe you could post the picture here for the others to see.....or you could bring a stem with the leaves to the swap..........or how about posting in the 'name that plant' forum? I am really curious now because it does seem similar....the flower bud cluster seems very like how the sweet ciciely looked..
ADDING TO MY LIST- WILL UPDATE THIS ONE AS I FIND THINGS
2- white cammessia
white Jacob's ladder
GWEN: would love to make a trade for a pot of your WHITE JACOB'S LADDER as mine did not survive this past winter.Thanks. Ross.
Do you mean camassia? If so I would love to have it.
ok so here is the picture of the plant I have that I am trying to id. If ANYONE can id it I will be most grateful. Also I do have a couple of small ones available for trade .

if there are two white Jacob's ladders I would love one please . I got a couple of the purple ones 2 years ago ...and both are doing beautifully! whilst other seemingly more hardy plants expired this winter . Thank you to whomever gave them to me! if not no problems .
If you have one left I would love a camassia!
Could your plant be Angelica sylvestris, Wild angelica?
My plant was id'd on the name that plant forum .....info is in the post above now .......I edited it to put in the info on the plant. Now gonna go make a tag
Thanks for making the effort to id.....and the plants are similar heightwize but leaves and blooms are just a bit different. I am trying hard to remember but I think I was told it was angelica by the person who gave it to me but I was never able to reconcile the different shape of the leaf ......and so I just forgot about it but now I have some to share ....but so hard to offer something when you don't know the name .
blueiris and flowergirl have you both down for the cammessia
I also have the purple but it is not ready to divide yet
ross have you down for white Jacobs ladder
signet- will look and see what we can do when you come here dad said he would love some purple Jacobs ladder lol
I have roughly 200++ 4" pots for you 'liberated' from the nursery recycling bin. Hope that keeps you going for a while! :-) I'll have another five or six once I plant out the current collection of swaps, gifts and sale left overs.
Hi Signet I've got at least 30 big pots, do you want tree sized pots? I've got maybe 10 of those, wasn't sure if I was going to grow veg in them to deal with the black walnut juglone, but decided against that many more pots.
signet, glad you got your mystery plant id'd. I thought the name that plant forum would have the answer.....usually pretty fast, too. :)
well hopefully the predicted thunderstorms will hold off and I can get the last of the plants ready for Saturday.....didn't want to be this late, but....life keeps getting in the way of the fun stuff!! lol!
White perennial geranium finally bloomed now to see if I can get a couple plants from it .
If you have a few available could I get a couple of red Pom pom style dahlias from you ....if possible , please let me know what you would like from my list .
If you have still have the jasmine available , I would love to try my hand at growing it please. Let me know what you would like in trade (assuming it hasn't found a new home already. Thanks so much .
Yes!!! and woohoo for white perennial geranium!!!
Can I have your Iris - intermediate deep purple for a couple of red Pom pom style dahlias, please and thank you.
You definitely have to try your hand on starting peonies from seed. It's not really too bad to wait. When you put them in the ground, you can just forget about them. Just say hi to it every year and say 'Yes you are bigger this summer, good girl!' :) Just take the seeds from your favourite peonies and you get nicer results. I might try again this year.
SIGNET: I will set aside the Jasmine for you...no trade necessary. Glad to have found a home for it. Ross.
GWEN: Thanks for the trade of the White Jacob's Ladder. What would you like in exchange? Ross.
I have a pot of some purple achimenes baby bulbs available if anybody is interested in them. They are just starting to come up.
hi Merja, I would love to have the achimenes if possible please. Not sure what I have left to offer, but hopefully I can find a few more things if there is nothing right now. :)
Merja, I believe you have convinced me to try and grow some peonies from seed. I will talk to you at the swap with a couple of questions about how you went about it. :)
This post was edited by greylady-gardener on Mon, Jun 16, 14 at 13:31
The pot of achimenes babies is yours. Do you have any blue queen sage left?
I have some young echinaceas. Pink or whit mix. About 4 inches tall.No trades necessary
I've always felt bad throwing perfectly good left hand gloves out when the right hand fingers wear through... So much so that I have a small collection of left only gloves. Some are just cotton, others are kid leather tipped. If anyone would like them I'll bring them, no trade needed.
I also have three pairs of nice gloves so if I found a buddy to trade with we could each have a pair and a half (one back-up for our dominant hand). Any takers? Apparently there are a couple of websites that put people with dramatically different sized feet in touch with their evil twin so they can end up with shoes that fit and only pay for one pair instead of two, which gave me the idea of trading gloves.
In a similarly non plant topic I have a hand made dark brown cat faced mug with a broken/missing handle; a 10,000 villages blue/white mug with a chip in the glaze at the rim, and a blue 2.5 cup teapot with a slow leak. Any takers? Oh, and an 2'+ cobalt blue giant pot broken into a 2/3 - 1/3 pieces, possible usable for garden art. Can you tell I always want to find new homes for things :-)
setting aside an intermediate purple iris for you . Thanks again for another great trade.
I was going through your list again and noticed that you probably don't have any Blue Queen sage left because it wasn't on the top of your list. So if you have a seedling or two of anything that I might not have that would be ok. If not that's fine, I'll bring these achimenes babies for you anyways.
GWEN & SIGNET:
Thank you for the latest trades.
Is that your garden in the background picture? It is beautiful, I am impressed!
I have the same plant in my garden, it could be either or.
I also have one that I believe is lovage, that is going to seed, that now looks like that. Will have to look online.
Thank you all for those who responded to my query and for the kind invitation to join the group.
I would have loved to participate because I do have lots of interesting plants for sharing from meadow rue, joe pye weed to filipendula, but cannot due to my hectic schedule and because it's too far from my place (in Richmond Hill).. I had thought this exchange was done via post but I understand that it's too costly to do it in this way owing to the increased postal rates.
thank you anyway...
Merja, I have another small blue queen sage for you. Small piece but big enough that it is flowering right now.
sorry I didn't get back right away but was not able to get to the garden and check it out yesterday. I have a pot with two pale pink four o'clock seedlings. If you are interested, I will bring them for you too.
blueiris, I wish that the cobalt blue pot was a medium one with just a chip or crack! LOL! Looking for a cobalt blue pot for a new plant that I recently got that will look great in that colour, but have no intention of paying for it with an arm and a leg..lol! :)
Thank you for the blue queen sage. I also would love to try to grow some four o'clocks, thank you.
wow blueiris- thanks so much for collecting pots. they don't do this here anymore. most of them send them back to the growers now
Ross , I would like to know your wife's favorite color please . I have something I will bring in trade for the Jasmine but it isn't garden related however. Just something to say thank you .
Navygirl Thanks for checking on the white Jacobs ladder for me .....I will try to separate some of the purple for your dad .
To those who wanted bluebells I am afraid I have to disappoint someone ......when I went to see what I could remove , discovered it was all one plant instead of a number of plants like I thought . I was able to find one baby plant but not two .....so unfortunately someone needs to choose something else . I will let you both choose who gets the bluebell and who gets another item . so very sorry !
Thank you so much for the pots ,,,,and yes I would like the big tree pots too if possible......what would you like in trade? Let me know please. Wondering.....were you were able to find any of the trays?
Signet: Elaine's favourite colour is green but please don't worry about thanks for the Jasmine. Thank you for taking it in and trying to provide for it better than I have been able to. Ross.
I can let the other person have the Virginia bluebells. I'll go through your list tomorrow.
Please give the Virginia bluebells to FlowerGirl, I got some from you 3 years ago and they bloomed their hearts out this year. I even nursed a cutting along last year and it flowered this year. I'm just a magpie for blues!!
I haven't found any gigantico trays yet, but will check out a couple stores tomorrow.
just wondering if we are going to say what we are bringing or will this be a true pot luck? :)
Like I said before, I will bring a dessert.
On my list of trades you were giving me a Virginia Bluebell. Did you want me to choose something else. I can do that
I was scrolling through all the posts. Noticed you had posted that you had a blue or purple Woodland Phlox. I have you down as trading me a Phlox.
I have some rhubarb plants. Its in my Moms backyard and she wants to dig it up. Any takers. Not sure the varity only that its rhubarb. There is probably 2 or 3 pieces. I have some in my garden I could share also.
Here is what I have us down as trading:
Deep Pink Phlox for my Cup plant
Blackberry for native aster
Red striped dahlia for dark coral bells
Pink dahlia for WS seedlings of Nora Barlow Columbine
If you would like some of the purple woodland phlox (shade to sun 12-14") do you have any other fancy dahlias left?
Please let me know if I've missed anything.
I have my hand up once again! I would LOVE some rhubarb. I have a heck of a time trying to grow it here but I do try . I finally had a piece that was doing really well and had to dig it up early May because Superior Propane had to come and replace our tank . I planted it back but ......time will tell how it does. So as a back up plan , I would love some of your rhubarb..... a couple of pieces if possible or one large hunk and I will try again in another spot. One of the spots has to be the right spot !
Just let me know what you would like in trade please.
I thought only 2 people had asked for bluebells . This is worse than I thought ......I am SO SO sorry to disappoint you but yes, I have to ask you to pick something else from my list if you would please.
Thanks so much
anyone interested in good old stella d'oro lilies?
You are right on perfect. One should never find and post things late at night ....LOL. I rechecked ...wondering why I sent that one to you. My apologies
I will bring some fruit and berries for the potluck lunch.
I believe I will bring along some baked chicken pieces that have been cooled.
okay I have changed my mind and instead of dessert, I will bring a layered salad. :)
Hi all , I was just out at my plant pot ghetto and discovered my yellow morning glory seeds have sprouted , I only had a few and they were quite old so I didn't know if they would actually sprout ...but Yippee! 4 of them did ...so I am offering one to anyone who thinks they might like to try one .
As for the pot luck, I will bring forks/knives and paper plates along with the too tall cake ....Can someone else bring napkins please. Do we bring our own beverages or ????????
would it be possible to have a couple of the echinacea (pink or white mix) seedlings that you offered the other day, please?
....and if possible, one of your yellow morning glories, please?
and yes...it is bring your own beverages. :)
I will bring the napkins.
I ask you fellow garden web-ers "to brie, or not to brie?" that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the potluck to suffer the injurious calories of outrageous French delicacy, or to take up arms against a sea of soft cheese and by opposing end up with tasty Morrocan honeyed carrot salad?
With apologies to Wm. S.
that is hilarious!! I laughed out loud....!
My vote is that we "take up arms against the sea of soft cheese!!!" (although I am a brie lover!)
Moroccan honeyed carrot salad?? How good does that sound?? yum!
Hi Greylady, I will pot up a couple of echinacea for you and yes you can have" the one the only "yellow morning glory seedling . I would love to see pics when it blooms for you. I guess these are kinda rare so I am hoping my few will bloom and set lots of seeds.
Blueiris .....I would love to try the Morroccan Honeyed Carrot salad ! hard to say no to Brie but the salad sounds yummy too . Can we get a recipe for it too please? I have emailed you .
Here is the Moroccan salad recipe (I generally make it in 3lb batches for potlucks);
1lb carrots, coarsely grated
1/3 cup raisins or dried cranberries
5 Tbsp olive oil
2 Tbsp honey
juice of 1-2 lemons
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
salt & pepper
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl. It improves greatly if made the day before, but if time is of the essence, then mixing all the liquids and spices first and letting them sit while you grate the carrots is a really good second best. My kitchen robot gets lots of love when I make this - no shredded knuckles!!
Signet, thank you so much for the echinacea and the yellow morning glory! I will do my best to help it thrive..would love to be able to get some seeds from it. In reading about it, it seems that it needs a long season, so may plant it in a pot in case I have to bring it in to finish the season and get seeds to mature.
blueiris......that sounds so good! :)
Baked chicken,2 salads and a too tall cakes. Plates, napkins, cutlery and bring your own drink. Trying to decide what to bring to go with all that??? Maybe baked beans in a crock pot...LOL.
I will bring a spinach quiche. Maybe another small dessert. How does that sound?
spinach quiche sounds great!! :)
(kind of sounds like I am there for just the food!! lol!!)
Hi Dinnerpl8 ...not sure if you saw my post about the rhubarb. Please if this trade is a go let me know what you would like in trade . I need to get it potted up for you .
Same goes for anyone else ......if there is something else you would like , please let me know asap ! I don't want to be potting up on Saturday morning.
Also has anyone decided on the time of the meet up ? 11 a.m ? 11:30 a.m? or ?????????/
I guess it hasn't actually been mentioned this year, but I am pretty sure that since holding it in the park, we have been meeting at 11 a.m.
sent you an e-mail
