Cupressus glabra 'Raywood's Weeping'

dcsteg(5 Shawnee, KS.)July 4, 2011

Landscape Attributes:

Raywood's Weeping Arizona Cypress is an open evergreen tree with a strong central leader and a narrowly upright and columnar growth habit. It lends an extremely fine and delicate texture to the landscape composition which can make it a great accent feature on this basis alone.

This one was staked to 6 ft. and then left to free range. I have no idea where it's headed. If it gets to far on the horizontal then perhaps I will have to add a support. I now notice it is beginning to lift its head for a more vertical growth habit so we will see.

That is a unique looking tree. I can see its head. Its left arm is forward, and its right arm is back, like it's about to stride right out of its circle.

Not big into weeping trees but this is a really interesting specimen. Each time I look at it I'm envisioning something different.
