One final (ha!) name question on a P. mugo

Sara Malone Zone 9bJuly 8, 2012

I bought a plant from a local nursery labeled 'Pinus mugo mugo' several years ago. Just recently I bought several 4" plants from a botanical garden labeled 'Pinus mugo var. mughus'.

So....are they the same plant (the young ones are too small to see how much they resemble the older ones that I have)? And what is the correct name?

Thank you in advance.

(This would have been easier to type if spellcheck didn't keep changing 'mugo' to 'hugo'!)

Sara, it's Pinus mugo var. mughus.

Sometimes it's also wrongly labeled as:
Pinus mugo mugo
Pinus mugo mughus
