Genista question

echoes_or(Zone 3)May 3, 2007

I have genista lydias growing in my work and home gardens. For the first time the work gardens genista is brown on the tops. I know its from our winter but what do I do with it - trim or leave alone?

Also I live less than five miles from work and mine at home don't have the brown tops. Not sure what the difference is but they don't look so nice with brown tops.

I don't grow Genista lydias in my garden, but my 'Emerald Blue' Arctic Phlox did the same thing this year. Its most likely from lack of snow coverage, therfore drying winds either before or after winter can do this. I would give them a good haircut right where you see some green.
