Growing vegetables in containers
It is a beautiful day and that leads a person to start dreaming about the garden season and making plans so I have a couple of questions to ask of you...
1. What vegetables do you successfully grow in containers that are smaller than half barrels?
2. How do you do it!?
I have limited space - 17 x 17.5 ft full southern exposure and hot hot hot in the summer when it is sunny out. I do have 2 perennial beds - both with roses, lupins, thyme, globeflowers, balloon flowers, dianthis, a lily and a 8 ft. Carmen Jewel cherry bush [turned into a tree]. I've also got a 6 x 3 area where I've grown cucumbers, tomatoes and tonnes of mint in the ground. I'm never terribly successful with veggies in containers - flowers YES veggies NO. I would like a more useful garden so would like to mix veggies with a few flowers. Can anyone give me some ideas?
