Does anyone know what is the name of this dwarf columnar pine?

lowville5August 26, 2012

The label says "dwarf columnar pine". I want to plant it where it will have enough space longterm. This first photo is with it in front of my car. I'll post a close-up of the needles next. Any information you can provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps Pinus strobus 'Fastigiata'.

How do the roots look? It appears to be quite chlorotic. I took a chance on a couple like that before and they didn't fare too well.

Looks like my Pinus 'Louie' that I bought last fall at Grant Line Nursery in New Albany, IN. Where did you buy that? If in Louisville, where?

Thank you. So, it is a Pinus strobus of some version, right?
I bought mine from Darren at Whistling Gardens (Ontario) along with 50 other conifers and now am trying to map out where each should go. There were a number that had lost their labels and Darren did his best to name them.

I've learned a lot on this forum, Will, but not how to examine and prune roots. When I lift the pine out of its black pot, the outer edges look fine to me. Can you recommend a tutorial that covers each step of identifying and then treating a conifer's root problems before planting?
