Naming New Daylily

avedon_gwMay 8, 2012

This daylily is a cross I made using the J. Carpenter reject I named for my mother, which is the pod parent, and Chance Encounter which is the pollen parent. This is a large plant, large flowers with very thick substance. I think the color is very interesting, certainly nothing like either of the parents. I was reminded of something I read once, describing the color of a rose. It said "the color combination of amber flesh-pink would make Renoir weep with envy." When I look at this daylily, I think the description fits the color perfectly. Therefore, I think I should name this daylily "Renoir's Inspiration" or should it be " Renoir's Tears"?Any suggestions are welcome. Avedon

Yeah, without context, RENOIR'S TEARS gives an impression of grief or sadness.

If you don't mind going long, an alternative might be RENOIR WEEPS WITH ENVY.

It's very pretty and I think I would go with Renoir's Inspiration for it's name.
