Meta.glypt. 'Miss Grace' redo

davesconifersAugust 29, 2014

The record cold last Winter fairly well trashed this conifer.

With 18 inches of main leader and limbs turned black I cut them back to the green wood.

As it began to flush out late Spring I came up with this idea. Personally i kind of like it and I will see if i can maintain this look. It could be a challenge but for now my shears are sharp and ready.

What do you think?

I like it. Rather an outdoor bonsai look. If only you had the garden scale model railroad to run past it.

Wonder how often you will have to prune.

Shoot Dave, everything in your garden is so neat and gorgeous, you need an oddball to set off the panorama. And, you know I've already championed Toronado's remark about the garden railroad!

Looks cool. It will look even better once more of the foliage returns an droops down... Way better solution then tearing it out!

I like what you've done. You made the best of a difficult situation.
Most people wouldn't see a shot like that. ;-)
It will be interesting to see how it evolves over the years.
Hopefully you will provide us updates now and then and not leave altogether.

Yes it put on growth and I have sheared it once.

Back bud on the trunk which is easily rubbed off with gloves on.
