Do You Know this Seedling/Plant?

dyhgarden(7b)June 18, 2010

I have planted a lot of seeds in the last few years. I do not recognize this seedling. It is coming up in such a way that it looks like something that I planted, rather than a weed -- of course, I could be wrong! Another knowledgeable gardener was here last week and we wondered if it was from a past Rose of Sharon that I pulled out because the deer ate it.

Other "lost" plants among my candidates include chelone (plant) and there are seeds of so many plants that I can't recall all of them!

Do you know what it is? There are two that are over 3 feet high and slender with more stems coming out of the base. No buds at this point.

From one of the taller plants:

The shot of the shorter seedlings resemble my dwarf shasta daisy seedlings 'Silver Princess.' Could it be a leucanthemum of some sort? I'm having a hard time seeing the taller shot.

I agree with Lisa - the short one looks like a daisy. The tall one isn't clear and looks like a different plant -something weedy...

Ah ha! I sowed Alaska shasta daisy seeds in November!

The leaves on the seedlings are so much wider than my mature leucanthemum x superbum 'Paladin' or my 'Broadway Lights', that I didn't make that connection.
