Free (or trade) Apple Scions - Edmonton Area

intothearkMay 17, 2013

I will be at the Sherwood Park Farmers Market at Festival Place,
this Wednesday from 5pm-8pm

I have free 4 bud apple scions and Ure & Golden Spice pear scions

I will bring M360, September Ruby, Prairie Sensation and Prairie Sun

If you want to practice grafting you might as well practice with these, and maybe get a few to take, as well as gain some experience

I can give you about 8-10 scions to play with, that's 16-20 grafts to try

I finally got an M360 to take last year and it budded this year, which is nice
but the other 3 do take better

here is a link to Konrad's masterful grafting tutorial,
but you can also use simple cleft graft and wrap tightly with electrical tape and see what happens

Hello PricklyPoppy,
we are 'ark gardens' and will have a booth at the market
i will keep them in a cooler in the vehicle,
just stop by and ask and i will get them for you

i am no expert, just an experimenter,
but i have had several take using only simple cleft grafts,
i may try some whip and tongue this year

here is another link to a grafting tutorial

If there were no international restrictions, you know I'd be there to get some sticks of M360! Hope some folks take you up on your offer.

Hello intotheark, ..a little late, that M360 sure does sound interesting and worth a try. I have a bunch of scion still around since I haven't grafted yet most of mine, apples pears and plums, anything you don't have?
I might just come with the cooler tomorrow and all the scion I have.

OK good,..have packed some new Russian Pears, Krazulia, Bolshara, Hanging, spelling could be out a bit, and a local Simonet.

Plums,..Dandy, Supreme, Sprout's Sunshine, Peach, Cherry plum..not sure which, could be Manor and a PTITSIN which # not sure, but I find it's a fairly good pollinator for others.
Apple, Norkent and Norson

You might have some of these,..perhaps you can give to someone else.

I know, should be doing more shopping at farmers markets,
always love it when I'm there.
If you're in Sherwood Park, please check out Ark Gardens,..you'll find unusual stuff there, from plants to homemade goodies! And you'll meet the nicest people!
Thanks so much for the scion, have more then I need, will give some out to the fruit group in Edmonton.

Intotheark.
It was great to meet you at the farmer's market.
I finished grafting those scions onto my trees today. Cross my fingers now!
I also planted the valiant grape.
