Small Bush ID Pls

Leandra7(z3a in GP, AB)June 12, 2014

Hello again, could you help me out with this little bush too? It's planted beneath a Hawthorn on the south side of the house. Thx for all your help on the other questions I've posted.

Is it a climber? A bit hard to tell from the photo if the bare branches are part of thi plant or something else.

Thank you for your comment @Shrubbish. This plant may be a climber but those bare branches don't extend much past the photo. I almost think the twisty stems look like a honeysuckle but I haven't seen that leaf before. Any ideas?

To me it looks like a potentilla that got worked over, it will need a fair bit of sun and some space, it will bloom soon so you will be able to tell.

Ahh, yes, a potentilla, that makes sense. The previous gardener here on this acreage obviously loved potentillas and planted them liberally! Thank you for your help @wayne61 and @northspruce.
