Dauphine breba figs have a nice flavor to them. This variety is very prolific. I'm looking forward to the main crop.

Beautiful pictures, Leon. Thanks for posting them. I had seen a description that said that Dauphine's "branches fall to the ground". And it sounded as if Dauphine might be a good candidate for identification of the Weeping Fig. Your post has settled that question.

I'll be watching Aldo/Corleone side by side with the Weeping Fig this season. At this point I still think they are very similar - but different figs.

I had a mature UCD Dauphine that never gave me a single fig!
It could have been my fault; I lost it, but still, I do not want it baaack.

My understanding is that the UCD Dauphine is of the
San Pedro fig type (breba only).

I also heard that there are 2 different Dauphine figs.
What is your source?

This Dauphine originates from Baud. I'll let you know what happens regarding the main crop. Looks like several more brebas will be ripening over the next few days.

The other one is called "Violet Dauphine" which is
totally different from "Dauphine".
The Violet Dauphine is a Common fig.
The Dauphine is of the San Pedro type.

There is a discussion going on right now about the two
on the F4F Forum:
