It is hard to find any local fig plants. The big stores had some Brown Turkey, but I missed the season.
Can someone send me some cutting of cold hardy varieties? like Hardy Chicago, Celeste, etc? Thanks.
Might be the wrong season for cuttings. I use hardwood cuttings and start them midwinter. If you try again then, you might get some more takers.
Where in NJ are you? I'm in Mercer County.
I took some cuttings in late May from a fig tree that the owner of Mazur's nursery has growing at his house/store.
He describes it as 'a white fig' and it is a strong, vibrant plant.
Some of the cuttings appear to be rooting and they are all showing leaves.
Depending upon where you are, perhaps one of my extras can find a home with you?
I am in Fairfax, VA area and I have tried rooting cuttings during extreme summer (June/July/August)and am pleased to report very good success rate. Amazing thing was another cutting received last August from an unknown variety, barely 6 inches tall, had two figs this April before it had any leaves. One ripened and was harvested yesterday. I plan to multiply this particular miracle plant into many more in the coming years. I am going to try to take a picture and post it soon just in case someone can identify it.
