regrowth on Sester's Dwarf

Rebe123October 3, 2012

Hi - I'm new to gardening, love conifers, and would appreciate some advice. After recently planting a 2.5' Sester's Dwarf, some of the middle branches turned brown while the rest remain healthy. Will new branches and needles grow in place? Thanks for your help.

no .. and welcome to GW

interior browning is normal ... and increased by stresses.. like transplant ...

no conifer holds its needles forever... most pines only hold them 2 or 3 years.. so the insides of all pines are nudey ...

water deeply and thoroughly.. up thru thxgvng.. with the understanding that with cool days and cold nights.. it wont need all that much.. just insert finger to 2 inches.. and make sure its damp.. not sodden ...

mulch properly if you havent ...

good luck
