Intended this to be a fall color post but I ended up taking more pics of conifers!lol!
Here is a link that might be useful: Fall in Chicago
This one deserves to get bumped back up again so those not watching the Trees Forum won't miss it.
Beautiful Photos! One could do a gallery of just tree bark...it's mesmerizing. I can understand why the little pink one is unquestionable your favorite. She must be quite a hiker too!
Wonderful selections! Had an opportunity to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden a few years ago - beautiful! It was one of the major highlights of our trip to the midwest.
She did awesome! We where there just over two hours, she seemed to enjoy herself a bit more this time around. Her favorite part was the fish in the ponds/streams.
Bark is definitely something that isn't highlighted to the degree it should.
Thanks, Barbara and RC!
What the nice pictures!!! And nice autumn colors! Acers are beautyfull.... And Ulmus parvifolia bark!!! Magic.....
Lots of trees I have not seen ever:) Your nature is so rich in diversity! I've bought a book "Conifers Around the World" and now enjoying the diversity of American native conifers:)
Thank you for the nice tour, Ireena.
Very nice tour, Will. I need to get down there some day. I've been to Morton, but not the Botanical Gardens.
I actually need to make another trip to Morton. I missed all the conifers that Nate posted.
You'll thoroughly enjoy it. They do such a great job with designing and intermixing shrubs, conifers and perennials.
Ireena, same to you. Appreciate all the pics you've been posting lately.
Whaas, your right, that 'Beehive' isn't a cultivar of Picea omorika, it's a cultivar of Picea mariana found by Bob Fincham of Coenosium Gardens...
Thanks for the info, I'll get in touch with someone to have the label changed.
