This is not a FIG Question

foolishpleasureAugust 24, 2010

This is not a Fig question but I thought there are some knowledgeable people here may have the answer.I have an Apple tree. Never produced. All Apple fell down rotted. This year I sprayed the tree in Dormant stage then every two weeks. About dozen apples survived the bugs and matured. I harvested it but they taste lousy, chalky and lots of leafy fibers. I really spent lots of time and money caring for this tree. I found that my time could be spend better taking care of the Fig, Apricot, Grape and Bear trees I have. I decided to remove it and plant another apple tree. This time not from the Internet I have to see the Mother tree and taste the fruit. To make the long story short I called a Tree service Company. The company offered to cut it and Mulch it and offered me the mulch. Should I accept the Mulch or it could be dangerous with disease. I want to start fresh without any problems. What should I do.

Accept the mulch, move it into a compost pile, and compost for at least half a year.
Apple wood is very good for other uses, too.

Apple wood chips are great for smoking meats as well.
