This is the best of the "whites" I have tasted.
Could that be atreano?
It is diffinitly my favourite white fig. I originally got the cutting from an Italian family in Brooklyn, Ny. Not sure of the origins, most likely was obtained from italy.
It bears 2 crops, and does well for our area. Also great in containers.
This is a picture I took 2 weeks ago. That's the main crop.
Bonzi, any chance of getting a cutting of this plant? I have a number of types I can trade. E-mail me if possible. Thanks
Here is a pic of the Atreano I received from PN last year. It was a three gallon plant.
The fig has medium sweetness with undertones of grassy cucumbers. The eye is open with white fruit scale. The leaves were consistenly five lobed, and uniform in shape.
My Atreano was propagated from cuttings given to me several years ago by the original donor. He brought this fig variety back from Naples. The rest is history. From the looks of your photo, bjs496, you have the exact same fig and leaf. Atreano is an excellent fig. It's flavor is best when the fig is really ripe.
Anyone with a cutting to sell or trade? I have unusual hostas of all kinds, white prairie coneflower, lots of perennials and native plants--best ground cherries around! Thanks!
