What am I?

shrillmtbSeptember 14, 2009

Just wondering if any of you can help me ID this plant. I got it from my mom, who picked it up from a plant sale earlier this summer. It hasn't flowered yet. It was labeled 'Angelica', but the leaves aren't like any angelicas I've ever seen.

Any ideas?

Could it be Angelica genuflexa, Kneeling Angelica, a native of the Pacific North West?

Looks to me like common garden angelica, commonly called wild celery. Maybe??

I think I have the same plant, it shoots up a flower stock 4-5' that has clusters of little pinkish white flowers. Any thoughts? I got mine at the farmers market years ago and always ment to write down the name but never did and now I can't remember. I can try and post pics later if that would help. Cheryl

Thanks! I think it may be the common garden angelica, I guess we'll know for sure next year if it flowers. I just wanted to be sure that it wasn't something really 'spready' because I know a lot of the plants at plants sales are. Spreading by seed, well, that I can live with, but after having done battle with goutweed, I'm not allowing any more root spreaders into my garden!!
