camellias in SW Florida

The camellias are in at the big box stores but I have never seen any growing in yards in my area. I love the big colorful flowers. Does anyone have experience with growing them here?

I've since read that they like acidic soil, so one more thing my limestone soil won't easily support. I'll pass on those beauties.

Very pretty! That's why I wanted one--big, beautiful blooms and dark glossy leaves!
