I'm such an idiot! Gardening mistakes!
This morning while being in the front yard I decided to water my small bed of sunflowers and celosias. After that I noticed a Powerade bottle in the porch. It was quite full and before throwing it in the trash can I decided to at least pour the juice out on top of the small log that borders by my celosias and sunflowers so that the ants could have something to eat . I poured the whole bottle on that log but thats when an unusual smell came to me . It smelled like gasoline so I looked around and guess where the source came from? The Powerade bottle! I panicked and decided to remove the log, but it was to late, the gasoline had reached the soil and now the whole place smells like a gas station! I have removed some of the contaminated soil but I'm afraid this will some how affect my poor celosias and sunflowers. Some gasoline got on some leaves but I cut these off. This happened a few hours ago but it seems that the plants look okay except for a sunflower whose stem is black in some areas because of the gasoline. Will my plants be okay? Will the seeds they produce be contaminated?
Now that you have heard about my idiotic mistake, what mistakes have you done? :)
