Plant Delights shows about a dozen "native" gingers ranging in their cold-hardiness from Zone 2-9 down to 7b-9. See if you can match one of their photos to your specimen, or post a picture of your specimen on the "name that plant" forum and see if the experts can help you determine which cultivar you've got.
