Two Too Tall Hollyhocks

thinman(Z5 MI)September 30, 2013

They aren't overly pretty anymore, but they sure are tall.

Ignoring the fact that October starts tomorrow, these two have reached the roof and with warm weather still hanging on here, they may go higher. They're also holding up a grapevine.

Are those staked lower down? They are amazing. And a beautiful color. Thanks for sharing.

Yep, Martha, they are tied to a trellis at about four feet from the ground.

I have zebra hollyhocks (zebrina) that are at 7 feet tall now and they just keep going. If it weren't for the fact that the season is coming to an end, I'm sure they'd go on like yours TM. I love them but, like you say yours are, mine are declining in their looks. Just a reminder of something to look foward to next season
