Couple of questions - dl fans and help ID perennial plant

Julia NY(6)June 11, 2012

Now don't laugh.... but I received an order where two of the fans are leaning outward. I typically don't get plants like this and was wondering if there is a way to correct fan positioning so they are more upright. Or am I over thinking this? I've got them in pots now and waiting to plant when the new bed is done but they are joined at the crown this way.

Now for my other question as I keep forgetting the name of this perennial. Can anyone help me ID?

Thanks for the help.

Your two fans were once one fan that split in the middle when it put up that scape. You can't do anything about the angle of the fans. Over time as the fans grow fatter, you won't notice it. I think the fans grow more upright over time. I get a lot of new ones that look like that.

Thanks Debra. I guess I'll just have to allow more spacing when I put these in the ground since they are leaning so much.

Julia, the perennial is some kind of a Stachys. I have a bunch of 'Hummelo' and just bought 'Pink Cotton Candy' this spring, I think the PCC is colored like yours. Laura

That is it. It grows very good here and I love the pink color. I've divided the original plant several times but darn, if I don't forget the name and of course everyone who comes to visit asks me. Time to label it.
Thank you Laura.
