Osmanthus Fragrans Papers
Just doing some research on Osmanthus Fragrans and wanted to share... I've read just about every osmanthus thread on gardenweb, so thought I'd start doing my own research. Hope people find this useful... My main goal was to find out any varieties which were a bit more cold hardy, and varieties in the Auranticus "DanGui" group may be the most cold hardy... Anyways, I've been collecting these links for later reference and thought I'd share.
Gui Hua is Mandarin for O. Fragrans, Kwai Hua is Cantonese for Gui Hua.
"Guihua in Guilin can be divided into four sorts: Jingui (Osmamthus fragrans var. thunbergii), Yingui (Osmanthus fragrans var. latifolius), Dangui (Osmanthus fragrans var. aurantiacus) and Sijigui (Osmanthus fragrans var. semperflorens). "
Luteus, Albus, Aurantiacus, and Asiaticus group
"The northward distribution of O. fragrans may be
limited primarily by low spring temperatures rather
than low winter temperatures. O. fragrans Sijigui and
Huangchuan Jingui are the most cold resistant O.
fragrans cultivars in Kaifeng."
