Has anyone any experience of growing this SA bulb, which is supposed to be very fragrant?

No experience but it certainly looks easy to grow and rewarding. If you haven't got an iris unguicularis that may also be worth growing, since the moraea looks so similar to an iris. Cardiocrinum giganteums also look worth growing from bulbs providing you can find a flowering size bulb.
