Since you can smell the winter honeysuckle and daphne a mile away and the two fragrances combine to make heaven...

pierris

gardenia

primrose

hyacinth are about to bloom, they're nice and fragrant

daffodils

Thanks for the pics...and if you've found a red late winter-blooming gardenia, run to the patent office and look at vacation homes! =)

Pieris has a light scent in my garden; nice when you get up close but not overly powerful (not wafting for me). I love this shrub though; tough shrub/tree with four-season interest and does well in part shade too. Doesn't get enough use IMO.
