Why doesn't Jasminum sambac set seeds?

none_paApril 7, 2005

Has anybody seen J.Sambac setting seeds (berries)? I know that the plant is self-sterile. It doesn't set seed even if you transfer pollen from one variety to another. Anybody know more about this?

Thanks!

I don't think realistically you can raise most/any jasmines from seed, especially sambac. If you wanted to propagate it, sambac is easy to propagate from a cutting.
