Wedding in June fragrant flowers for tables...what is available?
Hello from across the pond my fellow gardeners...I'm busy trying to organise a late June wedding over in PA (Berwyn area on Main Line). Trouble is I live in England! My problem is fragrance, not a personal problem I would like to add, but one of how to create a garden scent in a wedding marquee. I have gone through ideas such as room sprays, fragrant candles, scent diffusers etc, but it's a battle trying to figure out what's going to be right for the night. Then it hit me (never really been one for seeing the obvious ;-) ) but we will have lots of cut flowers in the marquee, why am I trying to re-invent nature, but hold on it's not as easy as I thought it might be. The flowers we will be getting are coming from a wholesaler (Costco Bulk flowers) and I'm pretty sure they won't be fragrant, attractive yes but smelly no. So I thought of adding to the bulk flowers, a selection of fragrant potted plants or cut flowers. This is where I need your help, in late June what is likely to be available in garden centres (potted plants) and which garden centres would you recommend in the main line area. I am aware Waterloo gardens has closed, and I do like a trip over Lancaster County way (which I am suspecting is going to be my best bet?). Where would you go for cut or potted fragrant plants in late June? what sort would you recommend? The names are sometimes different to the ones we use in the UK or not known to us so it's difficult for me to do any kind of research.
The marquee is small at 30 feet square, the wedding is in the evening and we have 30 guests.
