comments on plants ordered from nursary
Just received my order from Logee's. This is first time I ordered plants from them.
All the plants are surprisely small and fragile looking. My 4" pot summer sweet " spice bush" the biggest stem did not even reached 2mm in diameters. Skinny 10" tall main stem with couple of 1" long braches, one has broken off. The Kaffir lime I received is not grafted. It is on its own root. Only have one brach grow out of its cuttings. The other plants I received are very small and fragil looking. I am even afriad of touching them!
My comments is that you may pay half the price for the plant ( Logee's plants are not cheap!) but you may run into higher risk of small plants die before it ever grow into full size flowering plant. Looking at the total of investment/enjoyment-and-return , it is much cheaper to order bare root plant , in my expereinces, the bare root are larger, stronger plants.
Sometimes, local home improvement stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's carries same variety in bloom size. I think it is a good deal in general to buy plant from local store than order from nursary, especailly order the smaller sized ones.
Is there anyone willing to add on more comments or thoughts ?
