Favorite dianthus variety for fragrance? I think I love----

plumarius the best. It has the perfect combination of sweet and spicey. It is probably followed by runner up superbus. Which doesn't have the "traditional" (spicey) dianthus scent but is perfumey and soapy. :)

I like the old fashioned carnation scent (D. caryophyllus).

I grew some plumarius this year thinking the scent would be the same as carnations, but to my nose it wasn't.

But the "Enfant de Nice" carnations that I planted at the same time are budding up now. Can't wait for them to open!
